Welcome

Welcome to the practice of Lisa Kebejian, M.D., a board-certified psychiatrist and psychotherapist trained at the University of Maryland and Sheppard Pratt. I help adults and late adolescents navigate anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and other stressors.
I integrate the science of psychiatry with the depth of psychotherapy, offering a personalized, collaborative approach that helps you feel understood, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change.

About Dr. Kebejian

Originally from Towson, I attended Roland Park Country School before earning my bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavior from Columbia University, graduating cum laude and honored as Senior Marshal for academic excellence and service to the community. I earned my medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed dual residency training in Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the University of Maryland and Sheppard Pratt — one of the nation’s leading mental health systems.

I went on to complete the Adult Psychoanalytic Fellowship Program at the Baltimore Washington Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis and the Psychoanalytic Studies Program at the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis. My training spans psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), integrative, and trauma-focused therapies, with expertise in blending approaches to meet each individual’s needs.

Before founding my private practice in 2018, I served as an attending psychiatrist and psychotherapist at Sheppard Pratt, treating patients from across the country with complex mental health concerns. I have co-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals and continue to teach psychiatry residents at the University of Maryland.

I am board-certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and licensed to practice medicine in Maryland and California. I am a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA) and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Maryland Psychiatric Society (MPS).

Approach to Treatment & Services Offered

I provide psychiatric care and psychotherapy for adults and late adolescents (ages 16+). My areas of focus include:

  • Anxiety and persistent worry
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Self-esteem and self-defeating patterns
  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress
  • Relationship challenges and life transitions
  • Emotional patterns shaped by early experiences
  • Managing stress and building healthy coping skills
  • Understanding how your mind works — and applying that insight in daily life
  • Treatment is collaborative and tailored, drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and integrative methods to help you overcome challenges, strengthen resilience, and enhance well-being.

Personal Life and Motivation

My path to medicine began when my younger brother suffered a serious playground injury and ruptured his spleen. Watching the doctors act with skill, compassion, and calm left an indelible mark. From that moment, I knew I wanted to be a doctor — someone who could step in during moments of crisis and make a meaningful difference.

Over time, my curiosity deepened into a fascination with how the mind, brain, and life experiences shape who we are. At Columbia, I studied under Nobel Prize–winning neuroscientist Dr. Eric Kandel, whose mentorship reinforced my belief in blending scientific knowledge with genuine human connection.

During psychiatry training, I worked with exceptional supervisors in psychodynamic, CBT, and trauma-focused therapy, shaping my identity as a thoughtful, well-rounded therapist. My background in both pediatrics and psychiatry continues to guide my work today.

Outside of my practice, I enjoy an active lifestyle — taking Zumba classes, visiting the zoo and aquarium, and practicing random acts of kindness. Most of all, I love time with my young son, where I proudly serve as sidekick to his official titles of Master Puzzle Builder and Lego Master — skills he’s honing one missing piece (or brick) at a time.
